SOLSKJAER IS FOURTH TIME LUCKY?

It has not been all rosy for Manchester United legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sincehe was appointed into his job as the Red Devils boss in December 2018. Solskjaer was initially appointed in interim capacity before it was made permanent some months later. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has had a few criticisms along the way especially at the start of the current campaign when his team was struggling in the league but he has been able to weather the storm to lead Manchester United to the top two spots on the league standings.

Solskjaer was in danger of losing his job ahead of the matchday eight clash at Everton but the Norwegian was able to save his job with a well deserved 3-1 win over the Toffees. Since then, Solskjaer has led the Red Devils toseven more wins and two draws in the nine Premier League matches played till date. The run of 23 points from the 27 points available has taken Manchester United to second place on the table with 33 points. The Red Devils have the same point tally as arch rivals Liverpool who occupy top spot having played a game more than the Reds.

Solskjaer can make his job more safe by leading Manchester United to a major final at the fourth time of asking ahead of the Carabao Cup last four tie with holders Manchester City. Manchester United reached three major semi-finals last season under the guidance of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer but ended up on the losing side in all the three competitions namely in the Carabao Cup, the FA Cup and the Europa League.

Solskjaer would be hoping to make it fourth time lucky by leading Manchester United to the final for the first time ahead of Manchester City. Solskjaer and Manchester United have recent Carabao Cup history with the Citizens after they were beaten by their city rivals in the semi-finals last season. In his pre-match press conference ahead of the latest semi-final match with Manchester City, Solskjaer revealed that his team has matured from last season and that his players are ready to push for a final berth in the competition.
