BEST START

New Manchester United manager David Moyes has said that his players should start the season in the best possible manner if they are to win the league title at the end of the campaign. Moyes has had a poor start to his United career by losing two out of the three pre-season matches. However, he still believes that he has a good squad of players at his disposal and they could get off to the best possible start. United will be offering the league campaign with the match against Swansea at the Liberty stadium. Moyes has identified Chelsea, Manchester City, Liverpool, and Arsenal as the key challengers for the title in the coming season.

Speaking at the launch of the club’s new away kit, the manager has spoken about the importance of starting the season well. Under the guidance of Sir Alex Ferguson in the past, United usually made poor starts but they came extremely good in the second half of the campaign. This trait has helped them win 13 Premier league titles over the years. Moyes, though, wants a strong start from his players because he reckons that the likes of Chelsea and City will be extremely strong. José Mourinho has always had a string of starting the season well and it could lead to United playing catch-up throughout the campaign.

“Manchester United is a great football club that has been successful most years. The biggest strategy we have is to continue that. We want to be winners and with the group of players I have, I am sure that will happen. Wayne Rooney is running and is probably at the level we would have thought he would be. He has picked up his work again this week,” said Moyes about the new season and also about the future of star striker Wayne Rooney.
